More show and tell
There's two kinds of artsy blogs, aren't there ?
The ones that focus on the work of others (mine and Gawain's)
and the ones like Lori's that present her own work.
But can't I do both ?
Yes -- I think I will do both,
but only every few months,
like when I fill up a sketch book,
or finish casting/firing a bunch of statues
So here's a few selections from a sketch book that I just finished,
all of them on my favorite subject:
young women without clothes.
Big women
Skinny women
Feisty women
(this one quit her nice quiet teaching job
to travel around the country raising political hell)
Women at night.
Women fleeing the Garden of Eden
Passionate women
Contemplative women
Older women
(the fine young crones)
Younger women
.. and here's a story waiting to be told...
perhaps embarking for Cythera ?
(note to self: try to find some more
good male models!)

I'm surprised at you, not starting yet another blog! But I enjoyed finding them here.
I have my usual sensation--want to hold the sketch book and turn the pages myself. And how do these relate to your sculptures? I don't think I understand if they two things are closely related, or how you come up with your sculpture ideas...
For me (and maybe me alone) drawing is just like sculpting -- only it's done in 25 continuous minutes instead of 100 hours stretched out over several months.
And since I'm utterly non-commercial -- the only person I'm trying to thrill/please is myself -- which does sound a bit onanistic -- except that I'm very hard to please because I've seen -- and continue to see and select -- so much that's been done by those who are smarter, better trained, and more inspired than myself.
And if you're still following this meandering discourse.... I don't come up with sculpture ideas .. I just come up with sculptures. ;)
Oh, yes. That was a lazy way to put it, and I know exactly what you mean.
Chris,
This is soooo sensual and vivid...
Love them...
I want to see more of your drawings..
